Building Stronger Systems for Lasting Impact
Strong institutions are the backbone of sustainable development. Through the Institutional Strengthening and Sustainability (ISS) Program, CoSTO is committed to enhancing the capacity, governance, and long-term resilience of local institutions, community organizations, and partner networks across Tanzania.
This program focuses on building efficient, transparent, and accountable structures that can deliver social impact long after external support has ended. CoSTO works with civil society organizations, local governments, and grassroots groups to strengthen their internal systems — from financial management and strategic planning to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Our approach is participatory and inclusive. We provide targeted training, mentorship, and technical assistance to ensure institutions operate effectively, uphold good governance practices, and remain responsive to community needs. Through these efforts, we help
partners gain the confidence and capacity to mobilize resources, manage programs efficiently, and sustain their impact over time.
The ISS Program also promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing between institutions, encouraging innovation and collective learning. We believe that when organizations are strong, communities are empowered — and when systems are sustainable, progress becomes permanent.
At CoSTO, we are not just building projects; we are building institutions that endure. Through institutional strengthening, we lay the groundwork for a more accountable, self-reliant, and sustainable Tanzania.
